 am
sitting in this arm chair looking out the window at a winter scene in
the waning light. I have been transported back to a time and place far
from here. I
can hear my mother downstairs doing what my mother did while raising
five children in her house in Glasgow, Scotland. The cold, melting snow
and leafless trees, it
could be Christmas of my childhood. I don't know if this is a
special place or if this is a special time but the aura is wonderful.
The past can never return but
anything that conjures a memory is magical. I need to remember
that this is a business trip but feel that I am cheating my company
with an expense report. Enjoy
your stay, for today is the past of your tomorrow."

is so friendly and helpful. We loved Anna's room - no
ghost...I'm a little disappointed. Don't forget the Tunnel
and museum tour and the nature walks. We plan on returning during
fall foliage and bringing
our bikes. I can think of no other country inn that offers
as much. The Hartness House gets an A+!"

 ur
first visit to the Hartness House has been most enjoyable. The
warm atmosphere from the decor and the staff added to our pleasure
of the season. So many architectural delights - the many window
seats, blazing fireplaces, wood beams, polished floors, elegant
stairway, spacious rooms make a visit to the house very inviting.
And the holiday decorations are the topping on the cake. A
marvelous variety of trees decorated by community groups simply
overwhelmed us - they will bring us back again I'm sure."

 his
morning before dawn I listened to the church bells ring the hour
- it reminded me of the small town in New Hampshire where I grew
up. Then I watched the sunrise, which was a gift in itself. I will take
this
room home with me in my mind so I can visit it whenever I want
to recapture this feeling (I might invite a friend to share it with
next time, though). All this - and a tunnel and observatory too!
Thanks for a beautiful visit, and my regards to my fellow ghosts:
past, present & future."

contemporary rooms provide all the modern conveniences
such as cable TV, private bath, telephone with voicemail
