Vermont lodging

Vermont lodgingoday Charles and I pack up to leave the Hartness suite to return home. There are no real words to explain the comfort and beauty of this room.

The time we spent here just might have changed our lives forever in a wonderful way. To who ever shall follow in this room, may all your wishes and dreams come true.

Thank you to the Hartness House Inn and their lovely staff."

This was the Governor's room and it features one Canopy Queen bed, private bath with shower, hair dryer, a large separate living room with fireplace, telephone with voicemail with automated wake-up service, large color remote-control TV, a work desk, DVD player, CD player and clock radio, and wireless B Internet.  The Hospitality Refreshment table with soft drinks and pastries is nearby.

James Hartness was primarily responsible for Springfield, Vermont's industrialization in the early 1900's.  As an inventor with 120 patents to his name, his inventions propelled his company Jones & Lamson into prominence as a large-scale tool machine manufacturer. He had a love of astronomy that led to his building in 1910 a large tracking telescope and observatory that continues to operate today.  Hartness' accomplishments and patents are featured in the Hartness-Porter Astronomy Museum at the Hartness House.
