Room 8, The Kingsley Smith Room

Vermont country inn lodging

I am so lucky to be where I am at this moment, Vermont, the Hartness House Inn - so beautiful, so charming . . .  Tonight is the first of three splendid nights in a beautiful place. See you tomorrow - -"

"This is such a comfortable bed and the circular walls make this country room very special. The colors of trees are so rich it's a slice of heaven. It's hard to believe I'm actually on a business trip."

A favorite of many of our guests, this unique semi-circular shaped room is on the Second floor and features an elegant Four-Poster Queen bed, with large windows, private bath with shower, hair dryer, color remote TV, DVD player, CD player and clock radio, a work desk, telephone with voicemail & automated wake-up, and wireless B Internet.   The Hospitality Refreshment table is nearby.

Kingsley Smith was the much beloved hotel general manager and later, owner of the Hartness House.  When the Hartness House was purchased by the three major factories in Springfield - Jones & Lamson, Fellows Gearshaping, and Bryant Grinding - Kingsley was hired to run the hotel which he did for over 30 years.  Kingsley over saw the rennovations and construction of the Inn's ballroom, dining room, and the Victorian and Carriage Wings.  A tireless and loyal member of the Hartness House family, he is remembered for his contributions with one of our nicest rooms.
