Room 14, Mary's Room

Vermont country inn lodging and B&B
This morning before dawn I listened to the church bells ring the hour - it reminded me of the small town in New Hampshire where I grew up. Then I watched the sunrise, which was a gift in itself. I will take this room home with me in my mind so I can visit it whenever I want to recapture this feeling (I might invite a friend to share it with next time, though). All this - and a tunnel and observatory too! Thanks for a beautiful visit, and my regards to my fellow ghosts: past, present & future."

This oversized, bright and cozy, dignified room is on the Third floor of the Main House and features one wicker Double bed and a Twin bed and matching white wicker furniture, private bathroom with shower only, hair dryer, large color remote cable TV, a work desk, telephone with voicemail & automated wake-up, and wireless B Internet.   The Hospitality Refreshment table is nearby.

This room is dedicated to Mary Fenn Beardsley, granddaughter of James and Lena Hartness, and daugther of Anna Hartness Beardsley.  Mary  is a wonderful source of information on the Hartness family and author of "James Hartness and Lena Pond Hartness", a family autobiography, 1986, and "The Curves in the Road".

"The Curves in the Road", by Mary Beardsley Fenn, 2002 was originally written for her grandchildren. This book chronicles the life of Springfield-native Mary Beardsley Fenn from 1917 to the present.  Recollections of an active family life in Connecticut and Vermont, coal-burning furnaces, ice deliveries, and hiking the entire Long Trail.
